Voice
When using voice recognition order pickers get their instructions form a headset. Confirmation of the action can be given with the integrated microphone. Voice recognition is used in conjunction with about 50% of the WMS (Warehouse Management System) systems active currently, and voice picking / pick-by-voice is the most used feature.
Because electronic picklists are communicated with the text-to-speech software via the headset, the order picker has both hands free. He/she only has to acknowledge the picked order line via the microphone. Scannen, administrating picking lists with a pencil, and manual input of order lines picked is not needed anymore. As a result less errors are being made, less time is needed, and a new order picker is effective much faster.
PHI DATA uses hardware independent voice recognition solutions that – contrary to speech controlled systems – function on standard mobile terminals. Those devices can thus not only be used for voice picking, but also for barcode scanning. Because standard databases are being used, they can be integrated easily in existing WMS systems
