Unified Visibility for H.-Hartziekenhuis

The H. Hartziekenhuis consists of three sites. Two of them are located in Roeselare and one of them is situated in Menen. The H. Hartziekenhuis has 883 beds and 55 rest- and home care beds. This hospital offers high quality medical and nursing care and very extensive medical services.

The first phase of the project was the installation of the WLAN infrastructure for the sites in Roeselare and Menen, which supports wireless networking for tablet PC’s and WiFi pagers, that are used by personnel. Even patients can use the wireless network for visiting the internet.

During the second phase Unified Visibility was created by implementing wander prevention for the patients at the geriatric department and asset management of equipment (such as infusion pumps) through the usage of a Real Time Location System.

“Real time localisation of certain patients and medical equipment is a very important application for a hospital like ours,” states Chris Van der Beken from the H.-Hartziekenhuis Roeselare–Menen. “With a higher level of traceability we'll increase the safety of our patients. We also know exactly which assets are being used for every intervention. This is not the first time we make use of the services of PHI DATA. They already implemented an identification system based on barcode technology and they maintained a reliable after sales service ever since. Out of this has evolved a real relationship of trust. PHI DATA's expertise in healthcare and the favorable comparison between the pricing and the quality of the proposed solution were also a decisive factor in our decision regarding this project.”
